Founded in Paris by Van Cleef & Arpels, L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts is an educational initiative that invites the public into the enchanting yet shrouded world of jewellery. Located at their Hong Kong campus, The Art of Gold is an exhibition curated to showcase ancient goldsmithing techniques from China with pieces spanning over 3,000 years of history.
Inspired by the nuances of gold craftsmanship, the exhibition identity is a play on size contrast to introduce the different forms and texture properties of the four major goldsmithing techniques of hammering and chasing, casting, granulation, wire and filigree. A distinct stag shaped piece features as centrepiece of the key visual, accompanied by an ensemble of accented type reminiscent of the sparking allure of gold. Exclusively produced for the exhibition, a set of metal bookmarks take shape from pieces specially chosen to represent the four goldsmithing techniques. Completing the exhibition experience, the identity is adopted across print and digital media along with the exhibition space.
