Hongkong Post is continuing its Hong Kong Museums Collection by issuing a set of six stamps and two stamp sheetlets on “Hong Kong Museums Collection – Jingguanlou”. Jingguanlou is a private art collection compiled by Dr Leo Wong Kwai-kuen and donated to the Hong Kong Museum of Art in 2021.
This set of philatelic products showcases 20th-century Chinese paintings and calligraphy, featuring artworks created by three masters: Zhu Qizhan, Xie Zhiliu and Chen Peiqiu. By bringing a close-up experience of the artworks to have a closer look at the details of the distinct style and unique brushwork of each master, the design of the stamps captures the essence of each artwork and presents it in a new light. This allows for a unique viewing experience that differs from the gallery display of the collection. The zoomed-in perspective provides an intimate look at the intricate details and techniques used by each artist, allowing for a deeper appreciation of their work.
